For the first time since FSC #06, we are returning to Poland, thanks to the victory of Sylwia Grzeszczak in the previous edition with Tamta Dziewczyna. This time our host city is the capital, Warsaw.
The 92nd edition of FSC sees an increase to 33 participants. We have 4 returning countries, namely France, Ireland, Morocco and Slovenia. The only country to withdraw is Malaysia.
After voting was completed, Taiwan was in the lead with the most points. However Taiwan and the United Kingdom failed to vote, and both were moved to the bottom of the ranking. This allowed Italy to be announced as the winner.
The Host City[]
The Host city for this FSC 92-edition is Warsaw, or Warszawa in Polish, the capital and largest city of Poland. It stands on the Vistula River in east-central Poland, 260 km from the Baltic Sea, and 300 km from the Carpathian Mountains. Its population is estimated at 1.745 million (within a greater metropolitan area of 2.666 million).
Warsaw is considered an "Alpha–" global city , a major international tourist destination and a significant cultural, political and economic hub. Warsaw's economy is characterized by industries like electro , metal, steel , food processing. The city is a centre of research and development, as well as a nexus of the Polish media industry.
The Venue[]
The host venue for FSC October 2016 is Stadion Narodowy (the National Stadium), also called the 'PGE Narodowy'. It is a retractable roof football stadium - and multipurpose venue - located in Warsaw, Poland. It is used mostly for football matches and it is the home stadium of the Polish national football team.
